To better tailor the content to your site visitors ILSA defines three different audience categories:

  • consumers (private individuals)
  • businesses (as an end user of the vehicle)
  • professional traders (buying vehicles to resell them)

A consumer looking for their next car is only interested in all-inclusive prices, whilst a (VAT registered) business is interested in the price excluding VAT. And professional traders want to know the wholesale price and care less about warranty.

ILSA can be configured in two ways:

  1. Define a fixed audience. For example, if your site is specifically targeting businesses, set the audience to business. This cannot yet be done in the backoffice, so send us a message and we’ll change it for you.
  2. Supply the appropriate audience for each request, using the ?_audience= parameter. You can then either programmatically select the right audience, or let your visitor choose.

Here’s an example of the latter, as demonstrated on https://ilsa-demo.com/

If you don’t know the type of visitor, you can select the audience type general (as a fixed audience, or by using ?_audience=general). ILSA will then choose what makes most sense to most people. For example, displaying passenger cars with all-inclusive prices and vans excluding VAT.
